Description

PADI Open Water Diver is the first level of scuba diving certification offered by the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI). It is a globally recognized certification that allows divers to explore underwater environments safely.

Here’s a breakdown of what the course typically involves:

  1. Theory/Knowledge Development: The course begins with learning about the principles of scuba diving, including understanding the physics and physiology of diving, the equipment used, and safety practices. This will be done through online study Via PADI E-Learning Platform, This will be supplied after Booking your Course with Dive Club NI
  2. Confined Water Training: After completing the theory section, you’ll practice essential Safety scuba skills in a controlled, shallow water environment (@ Lisburn Leisure Plex over 5 Wednesday evenings). This ensures you’re comfortable with the equipment and basic underwater techniques for diving safely before heading into open water.
  3. Open Water Dives: The final part of the course involves completing at least four open water dives (typically in the Irish Sea). During these dives, you’ll apply the skills you’ve learned and demonstrate your ability to dive safely under the supervision of your instructor.

Once completed, you’ll receive the PADI Open Water Diver certification, your licence to dive, which allows you to dive to a maximum depth of 18 meters (60 feet) and dive anywhere in the world, as long as you follow safe diving practices.
