PADI Night Diver Specialty Course with Dive Club NI

Experience the thrill of diving at night and discover a completely different side of the underwater world. The PADI Night Diver Specialty teaches you how to dive safely in low-light conditions, navigate in the dark, communicate with your buddy, and spot marine life that only comes out after sunset.

After completing the course, you’ll be certified to participate in night diving activities worldwide — and trust us, once you’ve done it, you’ll be hooked.

What You’ll Learn

Across three open water night dives, conducted over at least two evenings, you’ll develop your night diving skills in real-world conditions. You’ll learn how to:

• Plan and prepare for night dives
• Use underwater lights and signaling devices
• Navigate in low visibility using compasses and natural references
• Control buoyancy in the dark
• Communicate effectively with a buddy
• Anticipate and manage potential night diving challenges
• Observe unique nocturnal marine life in places like Strangford Lough and the Irish Sea

Course Details

• Duration: 2–3 evenings (3 night dives total)
• Location: Dive Club NI & local dive sites
• Minimum Age: 12 years
• Prerequisites:
  • PADI Open Water Diver or Junior Open Water Diver (or equivalent from another agency)

• Full scuba equipment hire (wetsuit or drysuit, BCD, regs, weights, tank, torch, compass, etc.)
• 3 guided night dives with a qualified PADI Instructor
