Your Journey Begins – Ballycastle Harbour
.Departing from the Marina in charming seaside town of Ballycastle, your adventure starts with panoramic views of Rathlin Island and Fair Head rising behind you. Ballycastle has been a maritime hub for centuries and remains the gateway to some of the most dramatic coastal scenery in Ireland.
As we head west along the coast, you’ll experience towering cliffs, hidden caves, waterfalls, and historic landmarks — all best seen from the sea.
Highlights Along the Route
Coastal Cliffs & Waterfalls
Shortly after leaving Ballycastle, you’ll pass rugged cliffs where waterfalls cascade directly into the sea after rainfall. These natural features create a dramatic backdrop and are a favourite for photographers and nature lovers.
Kinbane Castle (White Head)
One of the most striking landmarks on the route is Kinbane Castle, meaning “White Head” in Irish. Built in the 16th century by Colla MacDonnell, the castle sits dramatically on a narrow limestone headland surrounded by sheer cliffs on three sides.
From the water, you’ll get an unbeatable view of this historic stronghold and learn about its role in clan warfare and coastal defence.

Raven’s Point & Giant’s Cut
As we continue westward, the coastline becomes increasingly wild and sculpted by the Atlantic.
You’ll pass Raven’s Point and the impressive rock formation known as Giant’s Cut, carved by thousands of years of wind and waves.
This stretch of coast is also home to seabirds such as:
Guillemots
Razorbills
Fulmars
Kittiwakes
Seals are frequently spotted resting on the rocks or swimming alongside the boat.
Portnavey Viewpoint
Passing beneath the cliffs of Portnavey, you’ll see sweeping views back toward Ballycastle and across to Rathlin Island on clear days. This area showcases the raw power of the North Atlantic and the layered geology of the Causeway Coast.
Carrick-a-Rede Island & Rope Bridge
The highlight of the tour is Carrick-a-Rede Island, famous for its iconic rope bridge suspended 30 metres above the sea.
Originally built by salmon fishermen over 350 years ago, the bridge was used to access fishing grounds on the island. Today it is one of Northern Ireland’s most famous attractions.
From the boat, you’ll enjoy a unique perspective as you:
Watch visitors crossing the bridge high above
Admire the dramatic cliffs and crashing waves
Take photos of this world-famous landmark from below
Weather and sea conditions permitting, guests may:
Enjoy a refreshing swim
Relax on board and take in the views
Spot marine life around the island

The Return Journey
After spending time at Carrick-a-Rede, we cruise back along the coastline toward Ballycastle, offering a second chance to enjoy the scenery and capture photos from a different angle. The return journey is calm and scenic, allowing you to truly soak in the beauty of the Causeway Coast.
